Dare To Look

All I like to do is to give you some thought provoking quotes and questions you can keep in mind while looking at my painting. Lately my fuel for artwork derives from things I recently experienced or am going through. I do not want to bore you with the details nor do I feel like sharing them - to be honest with you. So here is some food for thought...

In a  world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe."
― Michael Jackson

"For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice."
― James 3:16

Life is one big road with lots of signs. So when you're riding through the ruts, don't complicate your mind. Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy. Don't bury your thoughts, put your vision to reality. Wake Up and Live!
― Bob Marley

Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.
― Will Smith

"A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot." ― Proverbs 14:30

"The elegance of honesty needs no adornment."
― Browne, Merry

"Mirror Mirror
on the Wall,
Who Is the
of Them All?"

Women are said to look at themselves 38 times a day on average.
Some men do not look in the mirror at all they shave in the shower.
Some people cannot see themselves in the mirror - they are far-sighted.
Others are so used to see that same old face day after day that you don't even care who's face it is?

― Do you dare look at yourself in the mirror? ―
― Do you enjoy looking in the mirror? ―
― Do you take joy from your own reflection? ―
― Does it make you uncomfortable or anxious? ―
― Do you like what you see? ―
― Do you know the person you see? ―
― Look deeper, go closer. Is what you see the truth? ―
― Do mirrors lie? ―
― How many faces do you see? ―

The mirror in my painting has two faces. It represents the good an evil in all of us.

Everyone has to make two choices:
1 - choose to look into the mirror
2 - choose to see the person in the mirror.

Whether we see it, deny it or hide it - it's there. It will have an impact on our lives and the lives of everyone we meet, rub shoulders with, talk to, help, adore, love or hate.

In my painting there is only one lady who dares to look in the mirror and dares to discover and embrace the truth. All the other ladies turn away, may be out of embarrassment,  self-consciousness,  spite, envy or jealousy. They don't dare to look truth in the face and it is eating them up inside.
